Newly appointed to the STF Board, Supavadee – known across the industry as Pink – comments:

“Mars is committed to moving the needle on responsible recruitment, advocating for consistent guidance & approaches to strong management systems as well as government action to address this challenge.”

“My role at the Seafood Task Force will focus on continuing progress in responsible recruitment –– and working on programmes on human rights due diligence directly with tuna traders who are STF members.

“In liaison with other STF colleagues, I’ll also be looking at closer links with the Thai Government on advocacy to further improve worker recruitment processes in the fishing and seafood industry. Working with fellow retailers and major brands who are part of the STF means we can align our work with the progress and expectations of other global peers.

“We’ve seen tremendous progress on things like harmonized industry standards and tools, such as the STF’s Tuna Handbook, and assessment and trainings for recruitment agencies.  Supply chain mapping through STF is driving stronger analysis of member supply chains on a regular basis.”

“However, we all need to do more. Many local companies are looking for advice and support to use the tools we’re providing. This engagement piece is critical, underscoring the long-term benefits of improved practices – for workers, companies and the industry as a whole.”

“The Seafood Taskforce provides a strong network for collaboration and shared experiences  to explore solutions and challenges faced in the sector..”
