Seafood Task Force Welcomes First Mexican Member: Pacific Ocean Harvest - June '25

Hermosillo Sonora, México, 5 June 2025

The Seafood Task Force (STF), a leading trade association that represents members of global tuna and shrimp supply chains, has  signed up its first Mexican member. Expanding its global footprint in the process.

Pacific Ocean Harvest specialises in both wild-caught and farmed shrimp processing, employing up to 800 plus staff across its two plants during peak seasons. The Mexico-based company supplies premium seafood products to major retailers including Costco, with whom they have maintained a 15-year relationship, as well as several other retailers throughout Mexico and the USA.

Pacific Ocean Harvest takes pride in its robust traceability systems, having implemented a formal tracking system throughout their entire supply chain from harvest to shipment. Their commitment to supply chain integrity is now being further strengthened through their membership with the STF. The company's focus on quality and traceability positions them well to collaborate with the Seafood Task Force on sustainable and ethical seafood production standards.

As an active STF member, Pacific Ocean Harvest brings valuable industry expertise and perspective to collaborative sustainability initiatives. The company's longstanding sustainability programme, established in 2009, demonstrates its dedication to social compliance, ethical treatment of workers, and environmental stewardship across its extensive supply chains.

Abraham Mayorquin, President of Pacific Ocean Harvest, commented:

"What I like about the Seafood Task Force is that usually people run away from issues, but the STF approaches the problems of our industry to find solutions. In Mexico, we face different challenges than our counterparts in Southeast Asia, but nonetheless we want to ensure that we have covered off the entirety of our supply chain. By joining the STF, we're taking responsibility to protect ourselves in order to protect our retail partners. After working with major retailers for over 15 years, I understand how important it is for them to protect their brand, and as producers, we need to take on that same responsibility."

Pacific Ocean Harvest will enhance its current traceability system and will also join relevant STF working groups to meet evolving regulatory requirements.

STF Executive Director, Martin Thurley said:

"We are pleased to welcome Pacific Ocean Harvest as our first Mexican member, expanding the Task Force's presence into a crucial seafood-producing region. This partnership strengthens our ability to address supply chain challenges across North America. Their extensive experience will bring valuable insights to the Task Force as we continue to make progress on worker rights and sustainable sourcing practices across global seafood supply chains."

Founded in 2014, the STF brings together over 50 members from the world’s largest retailers, seafood brands and their seafood partners, serving more than 350 million customers globally, helping them to drive supply chain oversight and continuous improvement from vessel to plate.

About the Seafood Task Force:

The Seafood Task Force (STF) was established in 2014 to restore global confidence to trade, following concerns about social and environmental abuse in global tuna and shrimp supply chains. It is made up of 50 major retailers, brands, food service companies and their supply chain partners.

The STF drives supply chain oversight at scale, pioneering a pro-competitive approach that makes it easier for its members to meet international standards and growing due diligence requirements.

The STF is a US-based, not-for-profit trade association established for the seafood industry by the seafood industry. Its vision is a future where its members’ seafood supply chains are fully traceable, free from the risk of human rights violations and free from environmental degradation.
