Seafood Task Force Welcomes First Vietnamese Member
Vietnam, 02 December 2024
TAIKA Seafood, Vietnam's leading seafood processor, has joined the Seafood Task Force (STF), a leading trade association driving supply chain transparency and continuous improvement in global seafood.
Based in Chau Thanh, Soc Trang, TAIKA Seafood is a family-owned business founded a decade ago in 2014. Committed to providing clients across the globe with high-quality shrimp products, TAIKA Seafood has taken the decision to join the STF to help build confidence in social responsibility and traceability throughout its entire supply chain. With operations all over the world, TAIKA Seafood has established a reputation for itself in important markets including North America, Europe, Japan, and more than 50 other nations.
Mr. Do Ngoc Tai, CEO, TAIKA Seafood said:
“Joining the Seafood Task Force as the first Vietnamese member underscores TAIKA Seafood’s commitment to leading the way in sustainable and ethical seafood practices. This partnership reflects our dedication to transparency, collaboration, and preserving the future of the industry while setting an example for Vietnam and beyond.”
The company of over 1,000 employees sees its immediate priority upon joining the STF to strengthen its own supply chain traceability and to benefit from the trade association’s knowledge base and practical tools. TAIKA Seafood plans to drive regional collaboration, aiming to encourage other seafood companies in Vietnam to adopt similar sustainable practices.
Founded in 2014, the STF brings together members of global tuna and shrimp supply chains, serving more than 350 million customers globally, helping businesses to drive better supply chain oversight and continuous improvement from vessel to plate.
All members of the STF are working to produce fully traceable, ethically produced and environmentally responsible seafood, meeting international social and environmental standards and growing due diligence requirements.
STF Executive Director, Martin Thurley said:
"We are excited to welcome TAIKA Seafood as our first Vietnamese member. Their deep understanding of local challenges and commitment to sustainable practices will provide valuable insights into the Southeast Asian seafood market."
As Vietnam continues to be a significant player in global shrimp production, TAIKA Seafood's membership represents an important step towards improving industry standards. The company has already begun implementing comprehensive supply chain mapping and is committed to continuous improvement in traceability and ethical production.
All STF members provide an annual self-declaration of their supply chain mapping, risk assessment and traceability work, which allows the STF members to share trends and identify best practices.
