Vietnam, 11th February 2025

The Seafood Task Force (STF), a leading trade association that represents members of global tuna and shrimp supply chains, has further expanded its activities across Vietnam with the addition of Stapimex.

Stapimex has over 45 years of experience in seafood processing and farming, employing more than 3,000 staff across its two factories. The Mekong Delta based company specialises in sustainable shrimp farming and processing, producing more than 20,000 tonnes of seafood per annum for export. With certified facilities adhering to international standards including BRC and IFS, Stapimex exports premium shrimp products to major markets including the USA, Europe, Canada, and Japan.

Stapimex's commitment to food safety is demonstrated through comprehensive HACCP protocols and third-party audits. Now the company wants to underscore its dedication to environmental stewardship, community development and labour relations via its new membership of the STF. Stapimex's core mission centers on producing safe, nutritious seafood products while minimising environmental impact, ensuring consistent quality across every shipment to its global customer base. Through their membership of the STF, Stapimex is reaffirming its deep-rooted responsibility to both local traditions and future generations.

Our membership will align perfectly with our core values of enriching the benefits to our partners, employees, farmers, community and society. With our certified facilities and comprehensive food safety protocols, we look forward to strengthening sustainable seafood production alongside fellow STF members, continuing our tradition of delivering premium shrimp products to global markets while ensuring positive impacts for local communities and future generations alike.”

Founded in 2014, the STF brings together the world’s largest retailers, seafood brands and their seafood partners, serving more than 350 million customers globally, helping them to drive supply chain oversight and continuous improvement from vessel to plate.

Members are working to produce fully traceable, ethically produced and environmentally responsible seafood, meeting international social and environmental standards and growing due diligence requirements.

STF Executive Director, Martin Thurley said:

“We are pleased to welcome Stapimex, further growing our presence in the Mekong Delta. Vietnam plays a crucial role in global seafood production, making this partnership especially pertinent. Their membership will ensure secure food provenance and add invaluable country-specific insights as well as extensive industry experience to the Task Force as we continue to make progress on worker rights, conversion-free farmed shrimp, and sustainable sourcing across supply chains.”

Stapimex will bolster its current traceability system, opening itself up to annual assessments by the STF. As well as joining relevant STF working groups to meet evolving regulatory requirements.

About the Seafood Task Force:

The Seafood Task Force (STF) was established in 2014 to restore global confidence to trade, following concerns about social and environmental abuse in global tuna and shrimp supply chains. It is made up of nearly 40 major retailers, brands, food service companies and their supply chain partners.

The STF drives supply chain oversight at scale, pioneering a pro-competitive approach that makes it easier for its members to meet international standards and growing due diligence requirements.

The STF is a US-based, not-for-profit trade association established for the seafood industry by the seafood industry. Its vision is a future where its members’ seafood supply chains are fully traceable, free from the risk of human rights violations and free from environmental degradation.
